How does this work?
Use the custom comic calculator above to get a quote, and submit it to me. Once I recieve your comic concept, I'll contact you to set a deadline and make payment arrangements. As soon as I recieve your money, I'll start drawing your comic.

How long will this take?
The time frame depends on order volume, and the amount of research your comic requires, but if you need it by a certain date, such as a birthday or anniversary gift, please let me know when submitting your request.

What does the basic fee get me?
The flat fee will get you a black and white comic book fitting all of the parameters we discussed, sent to you digitally. Unless you request otherwise, you will recieve both an online version that you can share with your friends, and a high resolution version that you can use to print or publish the comic. For prices of color, printed copies, etc. see the custom comic calculator above.

What kind of printing do you offer?
No photocopied and stapled printing here, folks. Our books are professionally printed by Lulu.com, and would look right at home in any bookstore. The price of each book also includes a full color cover, and if your comic is in color, I'll have the book printed in color for no extra charge. If you're interested in any other types of publication, including hardcover, or different sizes or formats, just let me know! When we finalize the order, I will calculate the exact shipping costs for printed copies based on where you live. (if you only order digital copies, there is no extra charge)

Can I get the original art?
If you want the original art, let me know. Since shipping from Mexico is slow and unpredictable, I don't include it in the options, but if you don't mind the wait, I'll let you know how much the shipping will be.

Who will be writing and drawing this comic?
Ryan Estrada submitted his first comic to newspapers when he was six years old. He kept bugging the same newspaper until the finally hired him when he was fifteen. Since then his work has appeared everywhere from Cartoon Network (he animated about 4 seconds of the pilot to Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law) to the Young Eun Museum of Contemporary Art in South Korea. He has done comics for Random House (Flight: Volume 4), LiveJournal (Frank: The Comic Strip) and many other publications around the world. He once made a 168 page graphic novel in one week. No one is sure why. He also does a travel series called Expeditions which has appeared on CNN Headline News and Rocketboom. He slept on a bench in a typhoon twice.

What is the deal with rights?
Each custom comic book comes with the full, nonexclusive rights to publish it wherever you want, even if you make a billion dollars off of it. You can make copies, post it online, sell it to a major publisher, whatever you like. But I can also publish the comic, either on my site, in my portfolio, or in a book. If you're interested in exclusive rights, just let me know. If it's so you can broker a major motion picture deal, there will be fees involved, if it's because the comic is a mushy love letter to your girlfriend or something, you probably just have to ask. Also, if the comic is based on a story or a character that you created, you will keep the rights to all elements of the comic that were created by you.

Do I get to approve each stage of the process?
The production process of custom comics are set up to get work done fast, and cheap. This means that writing, penciling, and inking are done all in one go. I will make certain that the comic is of high quality, and fits all of the parameters we discussed prior to starting work. The finished product is sent "as-is". If there is a mistake, or a spelling error, I will make quick fixes, but if you want changes to the comic that will require redrawing or anything, we will have to negotiate a fair fee to do the extra work.

Do I need to make all those decisions up front?
Not at all. I understand that you may want to wait and see the final product before you decide what you want to do with it! If at any time after recieving your comic, you want to add color, or order additional printed copies, you can just contact me.

What if I'm interested in something that isn't mentioned or offered here?
Need a longer or shorter comic? Illustrations? Storyboards? Hardcover copies of your book? Something I haven't even thought of? Just e-mail or call, and I'll give you a quote!
